Responding to a chaotic world. Why you need to be living your purpose right now.
Are you feeling a pressure to find and live your purpose? A lot of people are feeling that pressure. There’s a reason you’re feeling it right now, and there’s a reason you have to do something about it now too.
Why are you at this point now?
A lot of people are waking up to the need to live life differently, and that will have different meanings and outcomes for different groups: maybe it means leaving the city, maybe leaving the rat race, maybe changing career, and a whole lot of other things. Middle-aged women often find themselves at a critical juncture in their lives that brings them to the question of their purpose: perhaps a relationship has ended, suddenly a long-term career is no longer satisfying, most particularly their children may have finished growing and left home. And as women of a particular age, we’re seeing at an exponential rate what we can in fact do, and generally there’s a huge desire to contribute. These changes aren’t exclusive to middle-aged women of course, but it’s that demographic that’s more commonly in this state of urgency and desire about their purpose. As a generation, most particularly those of us in our 50s and 60s, we have manifested much of the equality our mothers fought for, and we’re the ones who’ve broken most of the glass ceilings, or if we weren’t the first to break it then we came along behind and greatly widened the hole. Our own power is being revealed to us simply as a consequence of society’s evolution of the last hundred years.
Why do you have to do something about it now?
Because we’re living in chaotic times. The world needs you living your purpose right now. It needs you at your best, and your best is what you’ll deliver when you know why you’re here.
The world is in a time of even more rapid development and evolution, much of it not always positive. Most of what I see, in that which is frightening and undermining of our freedom and sustainability, is what I personally believe to be the death throes of an unforgiving, abusive and self-loathing civilisation. And we are emerging from this into one that is open, creative and supportive. But we could always move there faster. And I’m sure we could get there with less pain along the way.
Which means that those who are awake to this newer, more purposeful way of life need to get on with it. Because it is up to us.
So many of us feel a sense of pressure. I’m not always good at responding to pressure but this is a kind of spiritual pressure that is calling us to rise up to the purpose of our higher selves and breathe life into that. And it’s hard to ignore because it’s the truth of who we are – we are those higher selves; desiring to live our own purpose and make the contribution we came here to make.
It’s not a pressure like others you may feel in your life. It’s not one to feel guilty about if you’re not responding to it with full force. Guilt is not a part of Spirit. The pressure you feel is simply your Spirit and your purpose being felt by you. It is you tuning into them in ways you haven’t before. It is you waking up. And that’s super exciting.
My online course “Living a Life of Purpose” will give you a super-boost along your purpose journey.
