Obstacles to Finding & Living Your Purpose (feedback from 300+ members of a Facebook group)
Several months ago I asked members of my Facebook group ‘Living a Life of Purpose’ what have been their biggest obstacles to finding and living their purpose. Several hundred comments later, and the following list has emerged.
First, by a country mile, is FEAR.
Second: Me, myself & I, including comments to do with pride, ego & self-sabotage.
And then very similar numbers of comments followed:
3. Money, financial worries
4. Negative people in one’s life
5. Living in the past, learning to forgive
6. Lack of clarity about what one’s purpose is
7. Ill health
8= Specifically mental health issues, including recovery from abuse
8= Being focused on making others happy & general day-to-day life
10. Death of a significant other (mainly a spouse) and divorce
Other obstacles included: addiction, procrastination & lack of focus, time & patience, learning disabilities, age, and pursuit of material success.
Obviously many of the categories overlap. A further more detailed study is planned.
